Grand Rapids sexual assault suspect arrested by U.S. Marshals

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The suspect in an Oct. 16 sexual assault was arrested Tuesday by U.S. Marshals.

According to a release from the Grand Rapids Police Department, the man was arrested on charges of first-degree criminal sexual assault, unlawful imprisonment and assault with intent to rob while armed.

Police say the attack happened in the area of Euclid Avenue and Hall Street SE at  about 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 16.

The victim told police that she was grabbed from behind and that the suspect held a gun to her head, dragged her to a secluded area and sexually assaulted her.  He then allegedly demanded money and fled.

The suspect is expected to be arraigned Wednesday, and his identity will be released at that time.
