OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — A man was robbed at gunpoint along I-96 Friday afternoon after Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies say he stopped to help a woman whose car appeared to be broken down.
The robbery happened at about 2 p.m. on westbound I-96 near the 10 mile marker. Deputies say the victim stopped to help the woman and a man put a gun to his back and robbed him.
The suspects then made the man get in the ditch and fled in their car. That car is described as a silver two-door with a temporary license plate in the rear window.
Deputies say it may be a late ’90s or 2000s style car, but no make or model was given. They believe the rear window is tinted.
According to a release, the first suspect is a white female in her 40s with brown hair. The second suspect is described as a white male in his 40s, roughly 5 feet 8 inches tall with a medium build. Officials say he was wearing sunglasses, a black baseball hat, a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark jeans.
Anyone with information on this incident should call Silent Observer at 1-877-88-SILENT.
Officials say if you see someone whose vehicle is broken down on the side of the highway, call 911 to assist the occupants.
