GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- The body of a man was found Thursday near the northbound entrance to US-131 at Ann Street.

The body was found by a construction crew from Pitsch Companies working in the area.

Lewis Pitsch, the owner of the company, says several homeless people were spotted in the area Wednesday when his company was scheduled to begin demolishing a restroom.

He asked police to clear the people from the area, and says his crew found the body when they returned Thursday.

The body was not inside the fence, it was just outside the perimeter, according to workers at the scene.

The man was carrying identification, but police have not released his name.  An autopsy is being performed to determine the cause of death.
