DETROIT, Mich. — It’s not a fourth straight American League Central title, but it’s a step towards it.
The Detroit Tigers clinched at least a wild card spot in the MLB Postseason on Wednesday night, thanks to a 6-1 win over the Chicago White Sox in the afternoon and a 1-0 Seattle Mariners loss to the Toronto Blue Jays in the evening.
That loss eliminated the Mariners from postseason contention.
The Tigers’ magic number to clinch a division title is now three, with four games left in the regular season. They currently hold a two-game lead over the Kansas City Royals in the AL Central.
Detroit (88-70) starts a four-game home series with the Minnesota Twins on Thursday.
