SANDUSKY, Ohio — Rougarou has squashed the Mantis at Cedar Point.
Cedar Point announced this week that Rougarou will be the new floorless roller coaster for the 2015 season. According to Park officials, Rougarou is named after a terrifying werewolf-like creature in French folklore.
The coaster will carry riders on floorless cars instead of the old stand-ups at 60 mph down a 145-foot first drop and around a 119-foot-tall vertical loop.
While Rougarou will use the same track as the old Mantis, park officials state it will be a new and spookier experience for riders.
“Rougarou is going to be a fantastic addition to our coaster lineup and our guests are going to love it,” said Jason McClure, vice president and general manager of Cedar Point. “With the swampy waters below, the vibrant colors of the supports and track, lighting and other effects, it will be a ride like no other at the park.”
