WEST MICHIGAN— Family-friendly events happening around West Michigan this weekend are packed with entertainment, laughs and awareness for some very important causes.

Prepare to laugh as comics and cartoons come alive on Mannequin Night in downtown Holland. Volunteers will dress as comic characters and pose as mannequins in storefronts and windows along 8th Street. The event runs from 7-8:30 am Friday, September 19th.

On Saturday, September 20th, public safety employees will take part in the 8th annual tournament to remember fallen officers. The tournament is named for Grand Rapids officer Robert Kozminski, who was killed in the line of duty in 2007. The event happens all day at Huff Park on Grand Rapids northeast side, with opening ceremonies beginning at 9 am.

Also happening Saturday is the Light the Night Walkto support the fight against cancer. The Leukemia and Lymphoma society hosts the event at Bronson Park. The walk begins at 7:15 pm, registration starts at 5 pm.

And from unicycles and human pyramids, to animals and clowns, the circus is in town. The Ringling Brothers Barnum and Baily Circus performs through Sunday at Van Andel Arena. New this year is the Tower Tumblers who launch themselves from trampolines and repel through towers. You can get tickets at the Van Andel box officer or Ticketmaster.
