LANSING, Mich. — New polling numbers are showing just how close some of the top races in Michigan remain less than seven weeks from Election Day.
According to a survey by Vanguard Public Affairs and Denno Research, Democratic Rep. Gary Peters is leading Terri Lynn Land by seven points in their race for U.S. Senate.
Polling aggregator Real Clear Politics, which compiles both national and state surveys, shows Peters maintaining a five-point lead.
In the race for governor, incumbent Republican Rick Snyder holds a three-point lead over Democratic challenger Mark Schauer, and RCP has the race a little closer, just a one-point advantage for Snyder.
Incumbent Republican Attorney General Bill Schuette is leading Democrat Mark Totten by eight points.
In the race for secretary of state, incumbent Republican Ruth Johnson is leading Democrat Godfrey Dillard by about three points, which is within the margin of error.
The Vanguard-Denno survey included calls to 600 likely voters, some on their cell phones, between September 11 and 13. The margin of error is plus or minus four points.
