FRUITPORT TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A Fruitport Township woman recently drove roughly two miles in a stolen motorized wheelchair from Wal-Mart before being arrested, according to police.

Investigators say 46-year-old Shirley Mason was carrying approximately $600 worth of alleged stolen merchandise in the stolen wheelchair when she was arrested Monday.

She is facing a charge of organized retail crime for that incident and another charge of second-degree retail fraud from a previous incident at a Wal-Mart in Roosevelt Park, officials said.

Mason drove roughly two miles from the store on E. Sherman to Barney Street just west of Roberts.    Police say a 53-year-old man who was with her was also arrested for absconding from parole.
