EUGENE, Ore. — For one quarter, Michigan State was dominating the Oregon Ducks. Unfortunately for the Spartans, a football game has four quarters.

Oregon defeated Michigan State 46-27 at Autzen Stadium. It’s the most points the Spartans have allowed since giving up 49 in the 2011 Capital One Bowl to Alabama.

Oregon jumped out to an 11-0 lead, but then the Spartans came alive. MSU outscored Oregon 24-10 in the second quarter to take a 24-18 lead into halftime.  The Spartans then scored the first three points of the second half to cap off a run of 20 consecutive points. After that though, it was all Oregon as the Ducks rattled off 28 unanswered points including three touchdowns in the span of five minutes of game time during the third and fourth quarters.

Michigan State falls to 1-1 on the season. The Spartans return home to host Eastern Michigan on September 20.
