St. Louis Rams’ cut Michael Sam

ST. LOUIS, MO. (KTVI)-The St. Louis Rams’ unveiled their final 53-man roster on Saturday and DE Michael Sam has been released from the team.

Sam became the first openly gay player to be drafted by an NFL team when the Rams selected him in the seventh round of the 2014 Draft.

The Rams cut 17 players Friday, taking them down to 58, but none of them were Sam.

The NFL mandates that every team trim their roster from 75 to 53 players by 3:00pm CT Saturday.
