GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Vandals hit the Catholic Central Athletic Fields at the intersection of Knapp Street NE and Leffingwell Avenue NE over the weekend.
Graffiti can be seen on a garage that sits off of the field adjacent to the parking lot off of Knapp Street NE, as well as markings on a set of five football blocking dummies.
The graffiti on the garage reads, “EGR Pioneer EGR,” then white and orange symbols are marked on several of the blocking dummies that are difficult to decipher.
Catholic Central High School Athletic Director Trevor Hinshaw told FOX 17 that he believes someone from the community, and not any students, tagged the field area.
Although Hinshaw said it is frustrating to clean off the spray paint, he said this is not representative of the relationship between Catholic Central High School and East Grand Rapids High School.
As key high school rivals, Hinshaw said the Cougars are excited to take on the East Pioneers Thursday at 7 P.M. and reiterated graffiti is not uncommon.
