Longboard rider hospitalized after crashing during moped pull

HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich – A Holland man is in the hospital with serious injuries after falling and hitting his head on the road Tuesday evening in a crash involving a moped and a longboard.

A longboard is a form of skateboard.

Deputies with the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office say Jason Overway, 28, of Holland was on the longboard that was being pulled by a moped along Aniline Avenue near Robar Drive in Holland Township when he lost control and fell.  Deputies say he wasn’t wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and is listed in serious condition at Holland Community Hospital.

The driver of the moped, Jacob Hanson,24, of Holland, wasn’t hurt in the incident.

The crash, which happened around 8:30 p.m., remains under investigation as of Tuesday evening.
