LYONS TOWNSHIP, Mich. — One man has sustained life-threatening injuries after crashing his motorcycle into a road sign, police said.

The man was riding south on Hubbardston Road near Nickle Plate Road around 9:49 p.m. on August 18 when he went off the road, hit the sign, and was thrown from the motorcycle.

Michigan State Police said he sustained life-threatening injuries and was flown to the hospital. They also said that speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.

Troopers from the Lakeview post will continue to investigate.
