CALHOUN COUNTY, Mich. — The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that 40-year-old Brad Wolfinger is back in custody after escaping from the county jail Thursday.

Wolfinger was apprehended near a relative’s home in St. Joseph County.  Deputies say he escaped after fleeing from the jail’s garage, changing his clothes and riding away on a bike.

Officials said he had been working in the garage since March and was washing patrol cars prior to his escape.

Wolfinger was serving time for larceny and failed child support payments and was set to be released in December.
