HOLLAND, Mich. — One man has died after an SUV crashed into his motorcycle.

Police were called to 32nd Street near Apple Avenue around 9:05 p.m. on Aug. 3 for a report of an accident. According to police, witnesses said a GMC Suburban that was heading east on 32nd Street crossed the center line and hit the westbound motorcycle head-on.

The motorcycle rider, a 57-year-old man, was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Police say there were three people in the SUV, two of whom ran from the scene following the crash. Officers found them and took them into custody about a quarter of a mile from the scene. The third person was also taken into custody and taken to the Holland Department of Public Safety.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor, and investigators will meet with the Ottawa County Prosecutors to determine criminal charges.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Holland Department of Public Safety at (616) 355-1100.
