ROCKFORD, Mich. — Diamonds are a player’s best friend – baseball and softball players, that is.
Years in the making, the Art Van Sports Complex officially opens on August 1st. The complex is located at 3300 10 Mile Rd. in Rockford, and features 8 baseball/softball diamonds, restrooms and concession stands, and on-site parking for 400 cars.
Along with the previously-opened Miracle League field for kids with special needs, the centerpiece of the complex is the Richard and Helen DeVos Foundation Championship Field. It features a covered grandstand, pressbox and an outfield wall that stretches 385 feet from home plate.
The weekend of August 2nd & 3rd will feature the sites first event: a baseball and fast-pitch softball event called All Star Weekend Presented by Demarini. According to the AVSC, 23 of the 27 usable weekends in 2015 have already been booked.
