COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. – After just over half a season of dominating the Midwest League, Buck Farmer had nowhere to go but up.

The West Michigan Whitecaps All-Star pitcher announced on Twitter Wednesday morning that he’s been promoted to the Detroit Tigers’ Double-A affiliate – the Erie Seawolves.

“Gonna miss my (W)hitecaps boys for sure but happy to be joining @erie_seawolves! #pumped #blessed,” he sent out just before 10:00 a.m.

Farmer has been arguably the best of a bevy of great pitching for West Michigan this season – leading the Midwest League in wins (10) and strikeouts (116.) His 2.60 E.R.A. is sixth among MWL pitchers with more than 15 starts – and two of the arms ahead of him are Whitecaps (Kevin Ziomek and Austin Kubitza.)

West Michigan continues a three-game series with Lake County on Wednesday at Fifth Third Ballpark. Jonathon Crawford is set to start for the Whitecaps. First pitch is 7:00 p.m. ET.
