HOWARD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (July 27, 2014)–Cass County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash that happened Saturday night.
According to Sheriff Joseph M Underwood Jr. officers were called to a crash that happened on M 60 Highway near Yankee St. It happened just before 10 p.m. Deputies say that 19-year-old Austin Brouwer was driving North bound on M 60 Hwy. at a high rate of speed. He was passing another vehicle on the right hand shoulder, when he lost control of his car causing it to veer into the median and flip several times, hitting another vehicle.
Brouwer, along with three other passengers from his car were taken to the hospital. Currently Brouwer is listed in serious condition. One passenger was treated and released, another is in critical condition. But 23-year-old Rayna Dobrodt died at the hospital from her injuries.
Police say the other driver was treated and released.
The crash remains under investigation, and police are urging you to call if you have any information regarding this accident.
