GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — With nine seasons behind the Grand Rapids Griffins bench, Jim Paek is the longest-tenured coach in franchise history.
But there won’t be a tenth season, as Paek has agreed to become the director of hockey for the Korea Ice Hockey Federation and the head coach of the Korean Men’s National Team.
Paek, 47, is a native of Seoul, South Korea and discussed his decision to take over his home country’s hockey program with FOX 17.
It wasn't an easy decision for Paek, who says his family will remain in West Michigan for the rest of this year.
