GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A toddler who was found wandering the street in his pajamas early Thursday morning is now back home where he belongs.

Police say a passerby found the 20-month-old toddler on Fernando Street NE shortly before 2:00 a.m.  The child was not wearing any shoes, and was clearly dressed for bed.

Less than an hour later, officers were able to make contact with  the toddler’s mother, who lives a couple streets over on Maude Avenue NE.  She told police the child was able to get out after pushing open an unlocked screen door.

Mother and child are now reunited, and there were no injuries reported.
