GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The man suspected of opening fire inside a Spectrum Health parking ramp last month will be arraigned Tuesday in Kent County District Court, said Grand Rapids Police.
The following news release was sent to FOX 17 from Grand Rapids Police.
On June 23, 2014, Grand Rapids Police responded to the Spectrum Health parking ramp located at 225 Michigan St. NE, on the report of a shooting of a security officer. The security officer had been shot by a suspect that was in the process of breaking into a vehicle, parked in the ramp.
The Major Case Team, working closely with Spectrum Health Security Police, investigated this incident. On Thursday, June 26, 2014, a suspect was developed and arrested on an unrelated parole violation. The suspect was held at the Kent County Correctional Facility on the parole violation.
On Tuesday, July 1, 2014, the Kent County Prosecutor’s Office authorized a four- count warrant for Horace Demario Collins, male, DOB 01/26/1981. Collins was charged with Assault with Intent to Murder, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Felony Firearm. Collins is also a Habitual Offender-Fourth Offense.
Collins will be arraigned on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, afternoon arraignments, in 61st District Court.
