WEST MICHIGAN — (June 27, 2014) Heat and humidity are making their way back into West Michigan just in time for the weekend.
Mostly sunny skies Friday will allow temperatures to warm into the low to mid 80’s for afternoon highs. Light winds out of the southeast this afternoon will bring slight relief from warming temperatures however as winds become more southerly by late afternoon those winds will usher in more humidity.
Temperatures will continue to warm through the weekend with dew point temperatures reaching into the 70’s. 70 degree dew points are indicative of some uncomfortable, humid air. Air temperatures will also rise throughout the day into the upper 80’s, combine those temperatures with 70 degree dew points and heat index values will likely be in the 90’s.
Heat and humidity that build during the day will allow the chance for afternoon shower and thunderstorms. While most of the first half of Saturday looks dry, chances for showers and thunderstorms continue to increase into late afternoon and early evening.
Thunderstorm chances return Sunday afternoon and continue through Monday before drier and more comfortable weather returns for mid-week.
