COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. (June 22, 2014) — The Whitecaps fell to the Fort Wayne TinCaps on Sunday thanks to a player who was wearing a Whitecaps jersey last year.

Former Whitecap Adolfo Reina hit a two-run home run in the top of the third to put the TinCaps up for good 3-2. Fort Wayne would go on to win by a final of 4-2, handing Whitecaps’ starter Austin Kubitza (6-1) his first loss of the season.

One bright note for the Whitecaps was the play of Dominic Ficociello, who went 2-for-3 at the plate to extend his hitting streak to 17 games. Ficociello owns the longest current hitting streak in the Midwest League and is tied for the fifth-longest in Whitecaps’ franchise history. During the stretch, Ficociello is hitting .403 with three home runs.

The Whitecaps start a three game set in Lansing against the Lugnuts on a Tuesday. Jon Maciel (3-3, 3.27 ERA) is scheduled to start on Tuesday for the Whitecaps.
