WALKER, Mich. (June 22, 2014) — A man arrested Friday for allegedly robbing and sexually assaulting an elderly woman in Grandville is also being investigated in connection with a Walker homicide.
According to Walker Police, Shawn Jarrett, 50, is being investigated as a potential suspect in the killing of Yolanda Reyes.
The 40-year-old mother’s body was found May 16 at a construction site near Bristol Ridge Condominiums.
Reyes’ husband dropped her off for work April 24 at Neal Mast & Son Greenhouses and she never reported for her shift.
A family friend tells FOX 17 that Reyes and Jarrett were co-workers at the greenhouses.
Jarrett is expected to be in court Monday to be arraigned on charges for the Grandville incident. He is expected to be charged with first-degree home invasion and first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Jarrett served 30 years in a Pennsylvania prison for the rape and murder of his neighbor back in 1982, according to the Mercer County District Attorney’s Office.
That same year, Jarrett was convicted of aggravated assault against another person. He was released from prison in December 2012.
