MILWAUKEE, Wisc. (June 19, 2014) — You’re looking at the first ever electric Harley-Davidson motorcycle, visiting dealerships around the country in 2015.
Keep in mind “Project LiveWire” isn’t a production motorcycle. It’s considered a test bed for public reaction, introducing people to the idea of an electric Harley.
Gone is the signature rubble of the historic V-twin gasoline engine, replaced with the futuristic whine that reminds you of something from Star Wars.
Will it catch on?
Harley-Davidson has styled LiveWire into a bike that’s sure to please hipster cafe racers fans. Its popularity with bagger and cruiser fans remains the biggest question mark.
One thing is for sure, it’ll get a lot of publicity, with its first cameo appearance in the upcoming X-Men movie. Industry experts say we can expect a version of the bike to go into full production in 2016.
