FRUITLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (June 17, 2014) — Tuesday, residents in a Fruitland Township neighborhood were awaken by howling wind and crackling trees around 4:30 a.m.
FOX 17 meteorologist Jon Shaner confirms it was straight line winds that swept through the Orshal Road neighborhood. He said the wind may have reached up to 58 miles per hour.
About a half dozen homes were affected. Trees buried an SUV and crashed into another resident’s home, where three young boys had been sleeping. The Morse family is now displaced.
RV Trees LLC contacted FOX 17 and notified us about the extent of the damage. The tree service plans to spend today and tomorrow cleaning up the damage.
Hear from several residents caught in the storm’s path on FOX 17 News at 5 and 6.
