MUSKEGON COUNTY, Mich. (June 17, 2014) — The woman involved in a plot to hire a hit man to kill her sister’s husband has been sentenced.

Vicki Brill will spend between six and 30 years behind bars for her involvement in the murder-for-hire attempt, according to the Muskegon County Prosecutor’s Office.

Brill and her sister Diane Hart were arrested Nov. 13, 2013 after an undercover state police trooper posed as a hit man and recorded them trying to arrange the murder.  The sisters both pleaded no contest to solicitation of murder.

Hart was given the same sentence as her sister in late April.  She claimed during her sentencing that Brill initiated the plot.

“Sorry for all the mess,” Hart said tearfully in court.  “I wish I wouldn’t have gotten drug into it.”

The women allegedly offered rings as a down payment for the crime and agreed to pay $5,000 once the job was completed.
