BARRY COUNTY, Mich. – An elderly man who disappeared Wednesday has been found.
At about 7 p.m. Thursday, the Barry County Sheriff’s Office announced that Martin Leep, 91, had been located in northern Kent County and appeared to be doing fine.
Leep originally was reported missing from the Barry County community of Delton. Following is a news release issued earlier Thursday by the Barry County Sheriff’s Department:
Barry County Sheriff’s Office is attempting to locate Martin Leep, a 91 year old male who left the Delton area at 9:45pm on June 11th, enroute to the Martin area. He did not arrive at his destination, and he is driving a grey 2007 Chevrolet Impala with Michigan License Plate BEV0494. He may have gotten turned around while enroute to his destination. Then on Thursday afternoon, the sheriff’s office announced that it had confirmed that Leep had spoken with a clerk at a Hastings gas station at about 10 p.m. Wednesday. The sheriff’s office said he told the clerk he was lost and asked for directions. Leep was given directions to his home via M-179 Hwy through the Yankee Springs area. He was reported to be in good condition, just did not know where he was at.
