GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (June 4, 2014) — A a semi truck loaded with water bottles crashed and its cab was left hanging off the edge of the freeway Wednesday afternoon.

The westbound lanes of I-196 near the Lane Avenue exit were re-opened just after 4 p.m. after being shut down for about four hours.

Michigan State Police said up to 75 gallons of diesel spilled from the crash, which may have been caused by slippery conditions on the freeway from rain.

The driver suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to investigators at the scene.
