HOLLAND, Mich. (May 31, 2014)- A woman was robbed Friday night at a bank in Holland while making a night deposit for a local gas station.
According to the Holland Department of Public Safety, the strong armed robbery occurred at the Macatawa Bank in the 600 block of E. 16th St. around 11 p.m. Friday night. A 21-year-old woman from Holland was making a night deposit at the bank for her gas station, when she was approached by an unknown male. The male suspect then grabbed the money bag out of the deposit box and took off on foot in a north easterly direction.
The male suspect was wearing a bandana at the time of the robbery.
Officers then set up a perimeter and called in K9 unit from the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department. The K9 unit led officer to a nearby apartment complex where the track was lost.
Officer say that no weapon was seen or implied during the incident and the victim was not injured.
Officers described the suspect as a black male, approximately 6 feet tall wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and tan pants as well as the bandana.
Holland Department of Public Safety officers examined the bank’s security video and it showed a 2nd male arriving at the same time as the suspect and police believe this man could be an accomplice in the robbery. The 2nd male is described as a heavy set male wearing a dark-colored t-shirt.
