NORTON SHORES, Mich (May 23, 2014) – The Norton Shores Police Department says they’ve arrested at 31-year-old Muskegon Township man following an armed robbery at a Shell gas station early Wednesday morning.

The suspect was lodged at the Muskegon County jail on an unrelated charge according to police.  He’s accused of pointing a handgun at a clerk, forcing the worker to stuff cash in a bag from the register before taking off in a tan Chevy Blazer.

The same suspect vehicle description has been linked to another armed robbery that happened just 30 minutes prior at Ozzies Party Store on East Broadway Avenue in Norton Shores on May 21.  In that incident, the suspect also pointed a handgun at a worker demanding money, but took off before stealing any cash when the victim told the suspect he didn’t have any money.

Authorities in Fruitport Township have also joined the investigation after a purse snatching in a Walmart parking lot on Sunday involving a suspect vehicle that matches the description given in the two Norton Shores armed robberies.

Authorities are asking anyone with information on these crimes to contact Silent Observer at 231-72-CRIME.
