Woman Airlifted to Hospital after Accident; Critical Injuries

GRAND HAVEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (May 22, 2014) — A 63-year-old woman suffered critical injuries after police say she pulled out of a gas station parking lot, into oncoming traffic.

The accident happened on U.S. 31 in Grand Haven Township on Wednesday evening.  Deputies say Jackie Bates, 63, was leaving an Admiral Gas Station and pulling onto the highway, when she was hit in the driver’s side by an oncoming vehicle.

Bates was trapped inside her car, and after first responders got her out, she was airlifted to the hospital.  She was last listed in critical condition.
