DORR, Mich. (May 19, 2014) — Students were evacuated from Dorr Elementary School Monday afternoon after police said a suspicious package was found on school grounds.

Just after noon students were evacuated and brought to the fire station down the road, meanwhile Michigan State Police and the Allegan County Sheriff’s Deputies remained at the school for hours.

Michigan State Police F/Lt. Tom Draves says they did have a person of interest they were questioning Monday, but who that person was they aren’t saying.

K-9 units and the bomb squad were also seen at the library, searching the premises and a vehicle parked in the parking lot. Draves says that was possibly associated with their investigation and as a matter of safety wanted to clear that vehicle.

School officials were given the all clear just before 4 p.m., investigators say there were no explosives found in the suspicious bag, only that comments made by the person of interest led to the concern of the suspicious package.

It isn’t clear if any charges will filed as the investigation continues.
