AUSTIN, Texas (May 18, 2014) — There will be no Calder Cup repeat for the Grand Rapids Griffins.
The Texas Stars scored three times in a 6:41 stretch of the first period en route to a 7-1 win in Game 6 of the Western Conference semifinals, taking the series four games to two and ending the season of the defending Calder Cup champions.
Teemu Pulkkinen had scored his fifth goal of the playoffs just 36 seconds into the game to give Grand Rapids a 1-0 lead.
Petr Mrazek was pulled from goal with 2:03 gone in the second period after giving up the ensuing four Stars goals.
