GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (May 12, 2014) — A man is recovering in the hospital after being shot in the back while he slept, police said.
“He rolled over on me because they were still shooting, so I pulled him on the floor and between my legs because he was screaming, I guess because it was so painful,” his wife, who asked to be identified only as Shirley, told FOX 17. “And I was telling him to be still, be still, and that’s when I called 911.”
The shooting happened at around 1:15 a.m. Monday at a home on Adams Street SE.
The victim’s wife said that at least 15 to 20 bullets sprayed their house.
“They got bullet shots all the way going up the steps and all the bedrooms got shot up,” she said.
The Grand Rapids Police Department says it was a possible drive-by shooting, with at least one bullet coming through the wall and hitting the man in the back while he was asleep.
He is expected to survive. No suspects are in custody at this time.
