NORTON SHORES, Mich. (May 8, 2014) — Three people were taken to the hospital Thursday after two separate crashes in Norton Shores.
The first happened at about 12:43 p.m. on Henry Street near Lincoln. A northbound vehicle driven by a 60-year-old Fruitport man drifted into the center lane and struck a vehicle driven by a 77-year-old Grant woman.
The driver and his 40-year-old female passenger were both taken to the hospital. Speed was not a factor, but police are investigating to determine if the driver was distracted, according to a release.
The second crash happened at about 1:01 p.m. in the area of Forest Park and Lake Harbor Road.
A 66-year-old woman was driving eastbound on Forest Park and stopped at the stop sign at Lake Harbor. She waited for a vehicle to turn but failed to see a motorcycle and struck it while driving through the intersection.
The 29-year-old motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The woman was cited for failing to yield the right of way, according to police.
