HOLLAND, Mich. – Investigators are on the scene of a bank robbery in downtown Holland.
The Fifth Third Bank at 9th and Central SE was held up at about 2 p.m., according to a tweet from the Holland Department of Public Safety. A search is underway for the suspect.
The heist happened less than a day before Tulip Time officially begins in downtown Holland.
The following information was released from the Holland Department of Public Safety:
At 1:25 pm this afternoon, Holland police were dispatched to a bank robbery that had just occurred at the 5/3rd bank branch located at 10 E 9th Street. Bank employees reported a white male subject walked into the lobby and demanded money implying that he was armed. The suspect fled with an undetermined amount of cash and ran east bound on 9th Street from the location.
Holland officers were onscene within minutes of the report and set up a perimeter as well as informing campus safety at Hope College.
An Ottawa County Sheriff’s K-9 officer on duty was called to assist and attempted a track however did not locate the suspect.
Suspect Description: White male, described as in his 20’s, black scruffy beard, wearing sunglasses, a white hooded sweatshirt and black faded jeans.
