At 6:10 p.m. Thursday, the Grand Rapids Police Department responded to a report of two people injured during a dog attack in the 1800 block of Stafford Avenue SW. Officers told FOX 17 NEWS that a man and woman who resided at the home were attacked by their own dog — a Rhodesian ridgeback.

GRPD said both the man and woman suffered “severe” injuries, all to their arms, that were not life threatening.

The man was transported to the hospital by ambulance while the woman went to the hospital in a private vehicle.

Animal control officers captured the dog and have it in their custody.
