GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – It will be difficult to focus on anything but basketball Friday for sports fans across the state as two of the biggest universities in Michigan fight for a bid at the Final Four.
Both Michigan State University and the University of Michigan are in the ‘Sweet 16’ of the NCAA Tournament. The teams take on different opponents in two states and FOX 17 News is following the teams every step of the way with crews in Indianapolis and New York City.
Number two seeded University of Michigan Wolverines are favored to beat the number 11 Tennessee Volunteers at Lucas Oil Stadium in downtown Indianapolis Friday night. Tip off time is at 7:15 p.m.
At New York City’s Madison Square Garden, the number 4 seeded Michigan State University Spartans are favored to take down number 1 Virginia Cavaliers. That game begins at 9:57 p.m.
“FiveThirtyEight.com‘s updated NCAA tournament predictions say MSU has a 51% chance to beat Virginia. U-M has a 53% chance to top Tennessee. Also, MSU has a 17% chance to reach the national title game and an 8% chance to win,” said The Detroit Free Press.
