SPRING LAKE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (March 27, 2014) — A 29-year-old Muskegon woman was injured Wednesday night after her car smashed into a tree in Ottawa County.
The crash happened at about 10:37 p.m. on 148th Avenue near Laurie Lane. The Ottawa County Sheriff’s office said she crossed the center line and struck a tree.
Officials say the woman was not wearing a seatbelt because it was broken and say she told them she was looking at her phone. Alcohol also appears to be a factor in the crash.
She was taken to an area hospital, but her condition is unknown at this time. The crash remains under investigation.
