Teen Victim Identified After Deadly Grandville Crash

Darin Post, Zeeland, Mich.

GRANDVILLE, Mich. – The Grandville Police Department released the name of the young man killed in a crash on Rivertown Parkway over the weekend.

Eighteen-year-old Darin Post from the Zeeland area died from head trauma in the crash.  According to his obituary, Post was a graduate of Zeeland East High School in 2013.  “He was employed by Michigan Caterpillar and was attending Owens Community College in Toledo, Ohio, on a Michigan CAT Think Big Scholarship,” stated his obituary.  He was also a member of the Faith Reformed Church.

Police said Post was behind the wheel of one of the two vehicles involved in the accident Sunday just after 7 p.m. at the intersection of 44th Street and Ivanrest Avenue SW.  The other driver was not hurt.

The vehicles involved were a VW Beetle and pickup truck.

According to Post’s obituary:

A memorial service will be 7:00 PM Friday, March 28, 1014 at Faith Reformed Church 220 West Central Avenue in Zeeland. Reverend Jonathan Elgersma will be officiating. Burial will be in Zeeland Cemetery Visitation will be 6:00 to 9:00 PM Thursday at Faith Reformed Church. Memorial contributions may be made to The Darin John Post Michigan CAT Think Big Owens Community College Scholarship Fund c/o West Michigan Community Bank. .
