MEMPHIS, Tenn. (March 24, 2014) — Judge Joe Brown was arrested in Memphis Monday on contempt of court charges,according to FOX 13.
Judge Brown, 66, is a Democratic candidate for the Shelby County District Attorney General’s office.
According to WHBQ, the former television judge was at Shelby County Juvenile Court and wanted to speak on behalf of a juvenile in a child support case.
Juvenile Court officials told FOX 13 that Brown nearly started a riot while chastising the court, apparently telling the magistrate he had “no authority.”
Judge Brown was removed from the courtroom in handcuffs and held in contempt for five days, according to FOX 13.
Judge Joe Brown was cancelled in 2013 after 15 seasons.
