BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (March 20, 2014) — A Calhoun County Sheriff’s Deputy found a marijuana growing operation inside a Battle Creek business after going there to serve a subpoena.
The business is in the 300 block Southwest Capital Avenue. The deputy arrived on March 19 and realized there was a strong smell of marijuana. The Calhoun County Special Response team executed a search warrant around 3:45 p.m. and found about 40 plants between two rooms in the business.
A second search warrant was executed at the business owner’s home in the 11000 block of South M-66 in Barry County, and $3,000 in cash was seized.
The suspect is a 41-year-old man from Bellevue, and the sheriff’s office is seeking an arrest warrant for manufacturing marijuana. His name has been withheld pending further investigation.
