Teen Driver Falls Asleep Behind Wheel; Flips Vehicle

PORTER TWP., Mich. (March 17, 2014) — Two men were taken to the hospital following a crash after the teen driver fell asleep behind the wheel.

According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Kyle Hopkins of Sturgis, 17, said he was headed West on U.S. 12 around 11:13 p.m. on March 16 when he fell asleep, crossed the center line, ran off the road, and flipped the vehicle.

Hopkins and his passenger were taken to an area hospital for treatment for their injuries.

Alcohol was not a factor, but it is not known if they were wearing seat belts and at last check, the crash was still under investigation.
