BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (March 16, 2014) — One person was arrested Sunday after Battle Creek Police investigated a report of shots being fired near 80 Riverside Dr.

Police said a firearm was discharged at around 2:30 p.m.  No one was injured and no property was damaged during the incident.

A witness described the vehicle where the shots were allegedly fired from, and police located a vehicle matching that description in the area of Walters Avenue and Buckeye Street.

According to a release, several people were standing near the vehicle and ran into a nearby residence after spotting police.  Police detained them, and found a person in possession of a handgun.

They later determined that that gun was not used in the shooting, and the person had a valid concealed pistol license.

After searching the home, one person with outstanding warrants was taken into custody, but no other weapons were located in the residence, police said.

The incident remains under investigation.
