LAKELAND, Fla. (Mar. 15, 2014) — The Detroit Tigers got hit with their first real bad news of Spring Training.
According to an ESPN report, Tigers shortstop Jose Iglesias is out until at least the All-Star break and could miss the majority of the 2014 season. Iglesias has missed most of spring training with shin injuries.
Detroit has been working out former West Michigan Whitecaps Hernan Perez and Eugenio Suarez at the shortstop position this spring while Iglesias has been resting. According to ESPN’s Jim Bowden, the Tigers may also attempt to sign free agent shortstop Stephen Drew.
