KENT COUNTY, Mich. (March 13, 2014) — Foxy, the Chihuahua-mix that was given a second lease on life after being badly injured and taken to the Kent County Animal Shelter, was officially adopted Thursday.
Erin Fisher, 28, of Oceana County was chosen from around 50 applicants to adopt Foxy.
Foxy was only eight-weeks-old when she was taken to the shelter with a badly damaged eye in February. Her original owners claimed they found her discarded in the trash.
They later admitted that they got the dog before that from a family friend, and gave it away because they couldn’t afford the pricey vet costs to fix her injuries.
The two claim the man they gave it to decided a couple days later he didn’t want the dog, and placed her in the trash outside their apartment.
They said if anyone would have asked if they were the dog’s previous owners, they would have said yes, but no one asked.
Though Foxy has been adopted, there are still many other animals in need of loving homes at the Kent County Animal Shelter.
