GRANDVILLE, Mich. (March 12, 2014) — The funeral mass for star-athlete and student, Ryan Fischer, is set for Wednesday morning and the church expects a large turnout.
Fischer died in his sleep last Friday. Doctors say he had an enlarged heart. The 17 year-old was just months away from starting at West Point Academy.
Hundreds showed up for his visitation, Tuesday, where the wait to pay respects grew to at least three hours long.
Fischer’s funeral is set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Pius X Church in Grandville. Family asks contributions be made in Ryan’s honor to the Wounded Warrior Project and Wes Leonard Heart Foundation.
Because of what they saw Tuesday, the church posted a note on their Facebook page for those hoping to go to the funeral. The church’s capacity is 900 and any more would be a safety concern. They recommend staying home and offering prayers so there is more room for those who were close to Fischer.
