GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (March 11, 2014) — Meijer State Games of Michigan announced their second annual national anthem competition Tuesday.
The contest starts March 17 and the submission deadline is April 16.
Submissions must be from individual Michigan residents, and the national anthem must be sung a cappella and uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo.
Starting March 17, submissions can be emailed to public relations representative Jathan Koetje at jkoetje@westmisports.com. Make sure to put “I Can Sing” in the subject line.
Entries must include the name of the singer, age, hometown, phone number and email address.
A panel will narrow the competition down to three contestants. Facebook voting will then determine the winner.
That winner will perform the national anthem live at the opening ceremonies of the Meijer State Games of Michigan on June 20.
The top three finalists will be announced April 23, and Facebook voting will end May 7. The winner will be announced May 8.
