FREMONT, Mich. (March 6, 2014) — They’re one of the best high school basketball teams in the country, and you’ve probably never heard of them.
The Quad City Mustangs varsity boys basketball team – made up of seven players from around Newaygo County – are ranked second in the state of Michigan and 16th in the nation as they enter Saturday’s state title game.
Why don’t you know this team? Because they’re all home-schooled athletes.
They’ve made the state championship game six times in their eight years of existence – but have yet to win a title. Doing so would make them the first team ever from West Michigan to be home-school state champs.
